`' The City Commission of the City of Clearwater, Florida, met on

Commissicmers D. 0. Batahelor and J, A, Barry.
Mr, Batelie]:or introduced the Sollowing resolution:
NOV! THEIN;FOItE, BE I'P RLSOI,VED by the City Commission of Clear-
water, Florida, at a special meeting,
First; That there is n o need or occasion for passage of such a
act.
Second: That service and rates are at all times sub,?ect to
control of crnnpetition, w}iicli has resulted in steadily decreasing cost
to consumers of both gas and electricity.
Third: Tlw.t public utility oontrol should not be removed from
local units where it now ia.
Fourth: That due and direct prote;?t be made to the passage of
any such bill by this Florida Legislature now in session, as undesirable
and unnecessary, and not i.n the interest of 1 ocal government.
Passed and adopted by the City Commission of the City of Clear-
water, Florida, this 21st day of April, A. D. 1937,

It was moved by Mr. Batchelor, seconded by Mr. Barry and carried
that the said resolution be adopted, and upon roll call the follo?ving vote
was polled:
WHEREAS, the City Commission of Clearwater, Florida, has been
advised of Senate Bi11 No. 322 which would place all gas and electric
? ?? corporations under control of the State Railroad Commission, and
1 WHEREAS, the City has owned and operated its gas plant since
? 1924, wi4th satisfaction to itself and its aaetomers, and
` ? WHEREAS, the Florida Power Corporation has been serving
???:: ? Clearwater under franchise for many yours, at rates that compare

???'""`??"??""?????`? favorably with others in the State

Ayes: R. E. Green, Mayor-Commissioner,
Commissioner D, 0, Batchelor and J. A. Barry.
Nays: None/
Absent and not voting: R, L. Baker and L. A. Marsh.
Whereupon, the Mayor-Commissioner declared the said resolution
duly passed and adopted, and signed the same.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
