MD~1aD was duly seconded and carried unanimously. ITEM 1111 - Beach Patrol and Parking Enforcement for Sand Key. Upon reoommendation of the Beaoh Task Foroe and the Chief of Police, the Commission authorized removal of the night parking ban on the Pier 60 parking lot; establishment of an experimental attendant parking system; and reassignment of a squad oonsisting of five polioe offioers and one pOlice sergeant as a permanent beach patrol. This request is for authorization to proceed with replacement of the 6 positions on the mainland. Polioe Chief Klein indicated that it would take a year to train the additional officers. Commissioner Bel'field expressed concerns that too much emphasis is being placed on the beach. Chief Klein said this is a first step and that more officers are needed throughout the City and he will try to balance the concerns. He further indicated he needs to hire the additional parking enforcement officers now. Commissioner Garvey moved to authorize the interfund transfer from the Parking Fund to the General Fund as follows: $176,008 to fUnd a permanent beach patrol task force and $50,544 to tund additional Parking Enforcement Officers for Sand Key and to authorize the appropriate officials to execute same. lOtion was duly seconded and carried unanimously.. ITEM 1112 - Town Meetings. Commission has directed staff to schedule four 1984/85 Town Meetings. The following locations and dates are recommended: 1) Martin Luther King Center - October 15, 1984, 2) Memorial Civic Center - November 19, 1984, 3) Oak Grove Middle School - March 25, 1985, and 4) Fire Station #6 - April 22, 1985.
