Due to charges of disorimination by local residents, Holiday Inn Surfside has requested removal of the "guest only" restriction on the rental of aqua oycles. The Board of Adjustment and Appeal on Zoning also restricted the aqua cycle rentals to the hotel's guests only when it granted the necessary speoial exception for this use. Complaints of lots needing to be cleared have been investigated by the Sanitation Division and owners were notified by certified mail to clear the property within ten days or a public hearing would be held to authorize clearanoe. A-84-14, LUP-84-32. The property is developed with an existing single-family residenoe which has been converted into a religious retreat. Emil C. Marquardt, attorney representing the applicant, stated the property has been used for four years as a prayer oommunity, not a ohuroh. He stated that the Diocese of St. Petersburg will not authorize the faoility to be a churoh. They are requesting annexation to receive oity services. - Harold S. Wilson, attorney representing an abutting property owner, stated they have no objeotion if the use remains as it is. They are concerned that with the ISP zoning, the property could be developed to a more intensive use and the Diooese is not the property owner.
