The Planning Director reviewed the Plan and expressed
concerns on the recreation area and private street. Discussion
ensued on the private street connecting to the right-of-way ease-
ment to Beckett Lake Drive and that there be no access from
Sunset Point Rd but only from Beckett Lake Drive.
Bill Griffith stated the access to Sunset Point Rd is
necessary and a marketing feature. A 50 or 60 foot right-of-way
was discussed as well as the heavy traffic on Sunset Point Rd.
Mr. Griffith further stated that this is a condominium project
and a contained unit which is why they support the private street.
Ed Cole, representing the Beckett Lake Estates Home Owners,
read into the record a petition opposing the 50 foot right-oi-way
access to Beckett Lake Drive. They prefer the street be a private
street within the development itself.
Two citizens expressed concerns about the access onto Sun-
set Point Rd.
Commissioner Calderbank moved to approve the request subject
to:
1. The distance between buildings and the building setbacks
be shown on the site plan.
2. The design of the recreation area be subject to Staff
approval.
3. No off-street parking be permitted along the main roadway
through the project.
4. The main access drive be a private street with no connection
to Beckett Lake Drive, and the City Attorney directed to prepare an Ordinance.
Motion was duly seconded. Upon the vote being taken Commis-
s ioners Garvey, Ha tchet t, Calderbanl< and the Mayor voted 'rAye; rr
Commissioner Kelly voted "Nay." Motion carried.
ITEM #14. - 7th Year Community Development Block Grant Applica~ion
George Walton spoke in opposition to the City accepting any
revenue sharing funds. Tom Dempsey spoke in support of the Program
for Wood Valley and stated the residents want a larger improved
recreation area. He commended Don Jass, the City's liaison for
the Community Development Block Grant Program.
Commissioner Hatchett moved to approve the Projects and
Activities Program Proposal for 1982:
