Since tnid-1974, the City has been ,engaged in a seriea of contract negati�tion� with Ehe Union representing the employees of Ehe Fixe Department, the I:�tez- national Association of Fixefightexg, an affiliate of the AFL�CIO. In May, •1974, the negotiatians resutted in a 15%a wage iz�crease. In the Fall of 1�17�, the ne�oti�tions wer� eonclnded with tt�e execution of a thirty-nine (39? paga contract covering a varieEy of issuee.
