A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER,
FLORIDA, DECLARING THE CITY'S TRACT OF LAND
DESCRIBED HEREIN AS SURPLUS PROPERTY; DECLARING
THE CITY'S INTENTION TO EXCHANGE ITS TRACT OF
LAND FOR PROPERTY OF COMPARABLE VALUE INCLUDING
A TRACT OF LAND DESCRIBED HER EIN AND OWNED BY
THE PINELLAS COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD; AND PROVIDING
THAT THE PINELLAS COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD MUST
UTILIZE THE PROPERTY CONVEYED AS A SITE FOR
CONSTRUCTION OF A HIGH SCHOOL,
,
WHEREAS, the Pinellas County School Board has received a grant
from the Economic Development Administration for the construction of a
new high school in the vicinity of the Countryside land development in
Clearwater; and
WHEREAS, the location of an eagle's nest on the proposed site of
the new high school has been determined by environmental authorities to
require the relocation of the school site so as to avoid disiurbance of the
nest; and
WHEREAS, the City owns certain property adjacent to the initially
proposed site which would be desirable to the School Board as a site for
the proposed high school; and
WHEREAS, the City has not intended to use .its land in a way that could
not be accomplished as well by the substitution of the School Board tract
for a portion of the City property;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEAR WATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. Because of the nature of the property exchange described herein,
the City Commission does hereby declare that the City land to be conveyed
and described herein is surplus property and hereby directs the City Manager
to advertise and hold a public hearing as required in Ordinance No. 1649
for the exchange of surplus real property.

Z. That, subject to a reconfirmation at the public hearing, the City
will exchange that portion of its 3ZO.acre tract which is bounded on the
Southeast by State Road 580 and on the East by McMullen-Booth Road,
containing approximately 54 acres, M. O. It, and more particularly described
• on Schedule A, attached hereto and made a part hereof as if fully rewritten
herein, for an equal value of property owned by the Pinellas County School
Board, specifically including the 48 acres, M. O. L,, site proposed for
the Countryside High School, bounded on the North and West by Landmark
Drive, and more particularly described on ,? Schedule B, attached hereto
and made a part hereof as if fully rewritten herein.
3. That the exchange will conform to all applicable laws.
4. That the conveyance of the City-owned property shall be for the'
sole purpose of construction of a high -school thereon.
