;WHEREAS, a proposal has been formally submitted to the U. S.

Department of Transportation for its approval and implementation by AMTRAK
to reinstitute rail passenger service through Atlanta by adding a section to
the existing "Floridian" to split off at Nashville, serve Chattanooga, Atlanta,

`. Macon and Savannah and rejoin the "Floridian" at Jacksonville to serve
Florida points; and
WHEREAS, such proposal presents sufficient justification for
reinstatement of such rail passenger service and such implementation would
benefit the citizens of Florida; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission concurs in the need for such
service;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the City Commission of the City of Clearwater hereby
endorses the proposal submitted to the U. S. Department of Transportation
to reinstitute rail passenger service through Atlanta by adding a section to the
existing "Floridian" and urges its approval and implementation by AMTRAK.
2. That a certified copy of this Resolution be forwarded to
the U. S. Department of Transportation and to Charles A. Dunn, MD,
Florida Coordinator for the Georgia Association of Railroad Passengers.
