RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, the Greater Clearwater Chamber of Commerce has
become concerned because the traffic flow has been greatly constricted by
passenger train and freight train movements within the downtown area; and
WHEREAS, the Clearwater Chamber has conducted a study on said-
subject and has received a report suggesting the relocation of both the freight
and passenger stations from the downtown area to a location just South of
Lakeview Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission realizes the need for a new railroad
terminal away from the downtown area;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION REGULARLY AND DULY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the City Commission officially supports the proposal of the
Greater Clearwater Chamber of Commerce for a new railroad terminal away
from the downtown area.
2. That a certified copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the Greater
Clearwater Chamber of Commerce, the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad and
to Amtrak.
