WHEREAS, the United States Senate is now considering a General
Revenue Sharing Bill, S. 3651, which could penalize all of Florida; and
WHEREAS, Senator Edward Gurney has proposed an amendment to
5. 3651 which would eliminate the penalty against Floxida and othex States
with little or no income taxes; and
WHEREAS, the City of Clearwater strongly supports a general revenue
sharing bill for the several Statesbut does not feel that Florida and other States
in a similar position should be penalized for not having a state pexeonal income
tax;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OI!` CLEA.RWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the City of Clearwater strongly supports the General Revenue
Sharing Bill, S. 3651. (H. R. 14370), together with the Gurney Amendment
thereto, which would elimnate the penalty against Florida and other states
vsrith little nr no income taxes.
2. That a certified copy of this Resolution be transmitted forthwith
to Senator Edward Gurney, Senator Lawton Chiles and Congressman William C.
Young.
