RE5OLUTION '~~~""'""'~ No. 70 - i0 . a~~.~i WHEREAS, the State Highway Department of the State of Florida has issued an order prohibiting the planting of trees within thirty (3U) feet' o[ the curb along State Highways presumably to increase safety on such" State Roads; and WHEREAS, it is the consensus of opinion of the City Commission of Clearwater, Florida, that a recent Resolution of the Pinellas County Council of Mayors to the effect that municipalities should be granted permission to beautify, plant and maintain its State Roads within their city limits is not without merit; and WHEREAS, said maintenance by individual municipalities daea not x hamper safety measures and it has been pointed out that City Governments know better the conditions in individual streets within City boundaries; and WHEREAS. State Representative John T. Ware has filed a bill, a copy of which is attached, which substantially corrects this problem; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS FOLLOVJS: i, That the State Road Department and the legislative members from Pinellas County be petitioned to support Representative John T, Ware's bill which is designed to provide to municipalities of the County of Pinellas more authority for the purposes of beautification and safety of State Roads within the City limits of said municipa]ities; Z.
