WHi:REA5, the Ci~~y" Commission of the City of Clearwa#er, Pinellas County,

Florida, herein called the "Applicant," of#er thorough consideration of the various
aspects of the problem and study of available data, has hareby determined #ha# #ha
construction of certain public works, generally described as expansion and improvement
of the Sanitary Sewerage System for the City of Clearwater area is desirable and in the
public interest and to that end, it is necessary that action preliminary to the construc•-
Lion of said works be taken immediately; and
WHEREAS, under the terms of Public Law 6bi], the United Slates of America
has authorized the Department of Interior through the Federal Water Pollution Control
Administration to make Federa) grunts for sewage treatment works to public bodies to
aid in financing the cost of construction and related cast to aid in the construction of
such public work; and
WHEREAS, the Applicant has examined and duly considered such Act and
the Applicant considers it to be in the public interest and to its benefit to file an
application under said Act and to authorize other action in ccnnectian therewith;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THi; CITY OF CLFARWATER, FLORIDA, IN SESSION DULY AND
REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS FOLLOWS:
1 . That the construction of said sewage treatment works and appurtenances
are essantiai to and in the best interPSts of the Applicant and to that end that such
public works may be provided as promptly as practicable, it is desirable Ihat action
preparatory to such construction be undertaken immediately.
2. That Merrett R. Stierheim as City Manager 6e hereby authorized to file
on behalf of the Applicant, an application (in form required by the United States and
in conformity with said Act} far a construction grant to be made by the United States
to the Applicant to aid in defraying the cost of construction far the said sewage treatment
works and appurtenances, which sewage treatment works and appurtenances small consist
general ly of interceptor sewers, pumping stations, farce mains and sewage treatment
plants.

3. That if suclti grant be made, the Applicant shall provide or make
necessary arrangements to provide such funds In addition to the grant as may be
required to defray the cast of construction and other related costs of such pubitc
works.
~4. That the said Merrett R. 5tierheim as City Manager is hereby authorized
to furnish such inFormation and take such ether action as may be necessary to enable
the Applicant to qualify far said grant.
5. That the City Manager designated in the preceding paragraph is hereby
designated as the authorized representative of the Applicant for the purpose of fur-
Wishing to the United States such information, dote and documents pertaining to the
application for said grant as may be required; and athervvise to act as the au#horized
representative of the Applicant in connection with this application.
6. That certified copies of this Resolution be included as part of the
application for said grant to be submitted to the United States,
7. That this Resolution shall take efFect immediately upon its adoption.
