D. P. I, C, 5. PROGRAM WHEREAS, Mr. Jay W, Brown, Commissioner, Florida State Road Department, hag offered to the City of Clearwater the oppvrtunlty to garticipate jointly with the Florida State Road Department and the Bureau of Public Roads of the U.S, Department of Transportation in a traffic operations program to improve the capacity and safety of a major part of the highway and street system serving the Clearwater Urban Axea; and WHEREAS, Federal funding o{ this T. O. P. i. C. 5. program is now available; and WHEREAS, it is believed the Road Department wilt be in a position to initiate significant improvements prior to completion of phase one of the study phase, where there axe immediate high-priority traffic opex8tion problems, with the concurrence of the Bureau of Public Roads; and WHEREAS, other local units of government operative within the area delimited for purposes of this T. O. P. I. G. S. pxogram have also been invited by the State Road Department to be participants and thus beneficiaries with the City a[ Clearwater; and WHEREAS, it 3s undexstood the Agreement for joint participation with the State Road Department in this T. O. P. I. C. S. program is pxedicated upon the agreement of this City to enter the Memorandum of Agreement and is not limited in the event other units of local government choose not to be parties to Bach Agreement; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMLSSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, A5 FOLLOWS: -1~ ew •~~~-;;R~r~~ =~~;.
