WHEREAS, many marine businesses have depended and expanded "

over the years because of the availability of this Pass; and ~~~;~,

WHEREAS, due to silting conditions the Pass is nn longer navigable;
WHEREAS, the City of Dunedin joins with the City of Clearwater in
requesting this study; and
WHEREAS, Caladesi Island which lies immediately North of Big Pass
is State owned and is being utilized as a State Park so that it is essential that
there be a navigable waterway axound the southern end of this public asset;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, A5
FOLLOWS:
1. That the City of Clearwater hereby officially requests the U. S.
Corps of Engineers to conduct a study of Big Pass to determine what steps
should be taken to insure that this Pass will be maintained as a navigable
waterway.
2. That certified copies of this Resolution be forwarded forthwith to
the U.S. Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville, Florida; the U. S. Coast Guard;
Honorable Spessard Holland; Honorable George A. Smathers; Honorable William
C. Cramer; Trustees of the Internal Improvement Board, Tallahassee, Florida;
Chairman of the Board of Pinellas County Commissioners; Mayor of the City
of Dunedin, Florida; and the Marine Committee of the Greater Clearwater
Chamber of Commerce.
