RESOLUTION
No. 63 -133

WHEREAS, the control of erosion along the Gulf Coast of~Pinollas
County from Big Pasa South to Pass-A-Grille is of vital economic concern
to all area residents and businesses; and
WHEREAS, the preservation of natural resources is necessary for
the continuing growth and development of Pinellas County; and
Wl-IEREAS, the financial burden of an erosion control program fax
each community is prohibitive; and
WHEREAS, Pinellas County and all of its constituent municipalities
and interested organizations concur in the need for an overall plan for
beach preservation and erosion control;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That this body go on record as approving, endorsing and
supporting a plan for erasion control extending along the Gulf Beaches from
,Big Pass South to Pass-A-Grille.
~. That this body joins in the request of other interested bodies
far allocation by the Federal Government of sufficient funds for the U. S.
Army Corps of Engineers to conduct the study aforesaid, and urgently
requests the Congressional Delegation to support efforts an behalf of the
same.
3. That a certified copy of this Resolution be sent to Senator
George Smothers, Senator Spessard Hailand and Congressman William
Cramer.
