Battle City Engineer Willis Booth Police Chief The Mayor called the meeting to order, The invocation was given by Rev, Malkow, First Lutheran Church. Commissioner Insco moved that the minutes of the meeting of March 16, 1964 be approved as recorded and as submitted in written summation by the Clerk to each Commissioner, Motion was seconded by Commissioner Smith and carried unanimously. The Mayor asked to deviate from the agenda, Commissioner Insco moved to deviate from the agenda to hear an appeal from the Mayor, Motion was seconded by Commissioner Turner and carried unanimously, The Mayor requested the citizens to clean-up and beautify for Fun 'id Sun week to make a good impression on the dignitaries that would be present. Commissioner Insco reported that Playor James J, Tate of Philadelphia would arrive Tuesday, April 7th, 1964 for the Fun 'N Sun Festival. Commissioner Insco moved that Mayor Weatherly declare a salute to Philadelphia, for Wednesday, by declaring it Philadelphia Day. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Fields and carried unanimously, A public hearing 4JdS announced for Carlton Street sidewalk construction, from Madison to Greenwood, The Clerk read a letter of objection from James M, Jackson, 416 N. Jefferson St,, owner of 2 lots facing Carlton St, The City Engineer re- ported that at the public hearing for the paving of Carlton Street, on February 17, 1964, a number of property owners requested that sidewalks be included in the project also, Therefore, when the bids were advertised, sidewalks were included as an alternate bid. The estimated cost was $5.00 without sidewalks; and with sidewalks $6,10 per front foot, Commissioner Insco moved, having heard no valid objections, that Carlton St. paving, with sidewalks, be authorized and that the cost be assessed against the abutting property. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Fields and carried unanimously, A public hearing was announced for the paving and drainafe of Pinellas Street, from Greenwood to Myrtle, The City Engineer estimated the assessable cost to be 52.68 per front foot far the curbing, drainage and widening. 'there were no objections. Commissioner Insco moved, having heard no valid objections, that the paving and drain- age of Pinellas St., be authorized and that the cost of the curbing, widening and drainage be assessed against the abutting property, Motion was seconded by Commissioner Turner and carried unanimously, The City Manager recommended accepting the bid o.f ilueller Co,, for brass fittings for the Utilities Department, mater Division, Commissioner Turner moved upon the joint recommendation of the Utilities Manager, Water Superintendent, and Asst, Purchasing Agent, concurred in by the City Manager that the contract for water works brass fittings be awarded to 14ueller Co,, Decatur, I11,, for the sum of $2,295.00, which is the lowest and best responsible bid and that the appropriate officials of the City be authorized to execute said contract w}iich shall be in accordance with plans and specifications and bid. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Insco and carried unanimously, The City Manager recommended accepting the low bid of Martin's Uniforms, Tampa, for Police Department summer uniforms, Commissioner Fields moved upon the joint recommendation of the Police Chief and Asst, Purchasing Agent, concurred in by the City Manager that the contract for summer uniforms for the Police Department be awarded to Martin's Uniforms, far the sum of 52,073,70, which is the lowest and best responsible bid and that the appropriate officials of the City be authorized to execute said contract which shall be in accordance with the plans and specifications and bid. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Insco and carried unanimously. The City Manager recommended accepting the low bid of Orange State Motor Co. for Hi-Lift Aerial Truck (dump body mounted on conventional type truck) for the Parks Department, Commissioner Turner moved upon the joint recommendation of the Parks E Recreation Director, Parks Superintendent and Asst. Purchasing Agent con- curred in by the City Manager, that the contract for one Hi-Lift Aerial Truck, for the Parks Department be awarded to Orange State Motor Co,, for the sum of $13,806.50, which is the lowest and best responsible bid and that the appropriate officials be authorized to execute said contract which shall be in accordance with the plans and specifications and bid. A public hearina was announced for Carlton Street sidewalk construction, from Madison to Greenwood. The Clerk read a letter of objection from James M. Jackson, 416 N. Jefferson St., owner of 2 lots facing Carlton St: The City Engineer re- ported that at thE �ublic hearing for the paving of Carlton Street, on Februar5� 17, 1964, a number of pro�erty owners requested that sidewalks be included in the project also. Therefore, when the bids were ad.vertised, sidewalks were inclu�.ted as an alternate bid, T`he estimated cost was $5.00 without sidewalks; and with sidewalks $6.10 per front foot. Commissioner Insco moved, having heard no valid objections, that Carlton St, paving, with sidewalks, be authorized and that the cost be assessed against the abutting property.
