It l • '?---'?`"'-' The City Commission of the City of Clearwater met in special session at the City Hall, Friday, April 19, 1963 at 9;15 ABM, with the following members present: ?? ? Robert L. Weatherly Mayor-Commissioner Herb?:rt R. Fields Commissioner ,; Amos G. Smith Commissioner Joseph K. Turner, Sr. Commissioner Absent: Cleveland Insco Also present were: James R. Stewart Herbert M. Brown Willis Booth Absent; Max Battle The City Manager announced that the meeting had been called due to an emergency 'The Mayor called the meeting to order. Police Chief. consisting of the fire alarm system cables deteriorating in the South Ft. Harrison Ave, area and it had been estimated that a minimum of 18,000 feet of cable would be needed to correct the condition. The Manager stated that most manufacturers do not stock this type of cable, but it had been found that Clifford of Vermont, Bethel, Vt. had approx- imately 15,000 feet which they could deliver in one to four days, and Tele-Wire Supply Co. Inc., Jamaica, New York, had approximately 6,000 feet which they could send immedi- ately. The Fire Chief, the Alarm Superintendent and the City Manager asked for auth- orization to make this emergency purchase, 15,000 feet at $212,00 per thousand and 6,000 feet at $255.00 per thousand feet or an approximate total of $4,710.00. Commissioner Fields moved that the Commission, after hearing the report from the City Manager and determining that an emergency existed, approved an appropriation up to $5,000.00 for this emergency purchase. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Turner and carried unanimously. There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 9:25 P.M.
