City Attornc)'. The ;,jayor presented a citation to :',lr. Joe Daniels \-vho 'Was present
recognizing his public service as a me!:lber o.f the Electrical Examining Board from
1953 throu~h 1961. The gayor announced a citation had been prepared to give to
I-.J:r. R. B. r-1auney in appreciation for his rublic sf3I'vice as Civil Service Board
member rrom 1957 through 1961.
Commissioner Insco moved that the minutes of the regular meeting of

tant Furchasing Ad;ent that the bid of ,~l, 655.00 submitted by Davis Meter Supply
Company, Thomasville, Georgia, be accepted Wllich is the lowest and best respon-
sible bid, and the appropriate officials of the City be authorized to e~ecute said

The City Manager reported that bids had been asked to purchase or to raze
City-owned buildings located at 500 South Fort Harrison Avenue. He explained
two bids had been received whereby the City ~ould have to pay the bidders 1450.00
or ~597.00 to raze the buildings. He recommended accepting the bid of ~ll.OO
from Green Construction Company, Clearwater, to tear the buildings down ar.d
remove the lumber, etc. Commissioner Fields moved upon the recommer.dation of the
Assistant Pw'chasing Agent that the offer of Green Construction Company for $11.00
be accepted which is hi~hest and best possible bid, and the appropriate orficials
of the City be authorized to execute said contract which shall be in accordance

A letter was read from Nr. H. L. Coachman, President of Coachman Proper-
ties, Inc., 'rampa, offerin:g a tvlenty acre site west of' U. S. R.oute 19, to the
City .for use as sanitary land fill and stated he was willin~ to work out some type
of agreement if the City accepted. Tl1e City Manager recornm~nded investigation to
determine whether the property would be suitable for this use. Mr. Charles S.
Bell, 2726 Kumquat Drive, (Virginia Groves Estates) reported he lived in the
County near the site of the proposed garbage dump and that he was speaking for
his neighborhood association in 9pposing the proposition because or the odor and
. smoke. Mr. Rene Blanc, 1921 Cardinal Drive (Car~ton Terrace) a150 objected.

during a Civil Defense Cotll'se given by Dr. Robert Dietrich that a ,zreat :r:an'y
people in the audience from all areas of Clearwater were unable to llear the sirens
t.hat are sound(:d on Sal.urday noon and enclosin:r, a pet..ition sif,ned py 71 persons
asking; that. immediate action be taken to provide an attack 'v"larnine; system suffi-
ciently audible for all sections of the City. Commissioner Insco moved to receive
the petition and have it put on the llgenda for discussion with our Civil Defense

The City Attorney reported there was a request for consent to Assirnrnent
of sub-lease for the lunchroom in the ~larina Building from Robert J. Roebuck and
James M. Poindexter to Colony Marina Restaurant, Inc. The City Attorney explained
this was merely an incorporation of the business by Messrs. Roebuck and Poindexter
with no change in the terms of the sub-lease from Biff-Burger of Tampa, Inc.

assure annexation of his property on Sand Key at the south approach to the pro-
posed Clear'tlater Fass Brirl~e, the City Att.orney explained that the proposed
escro~ a~ent, the Bank of Clearwater, wished to impose some other conditions to
the agreement so it had been decided that the City woul~ hold tile Londs in its

City for use as sanit�ry land fill and stated he was tivillin� to work out some type

de�errnine whether the propert3� �tould be suitable for tlzis use. Mr. Charles S.
Bell, 2%26 Kumquat Drive, (Virginia Groves Estates) reported he iived in the
County near the sii;e of the pro�osed barba�e dump and that he was speaking for
l�is neighbarhood assoeiation in apposing the proposition because �f the odor and
