The I~lanager presented an an:,'lication from 'l'enneco Oil Company to construct a
service station 8t the north\'/est corner of Pegasus 8 net Gulf to Bay Boulevard. He
reported a memb from t.he City En~ineer stated Ghe plans were in order except for the
corrections made on pa~e one, and that the Zoning and planning Board felt the approach
areas should be made smaller and t.hat the approach areas on Pegasus Avenue should be
farther north. Mr. J. E. Anderson, Acting City Engineer, said the entrances should
be 30 feet instead of 60 feet. Commissioner Smith moved ~here beins no objectors
present that the request be granted for a fillin,~ station, and that the recommendation
o~the Engineering Department be employed. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Fields

The Attorney presented a proposed contract with Mr. Otis H. O'Neill for a
~ortion of his lots on Drew Street for right of way purposes in the amount of
~1556.00 for land; trees, shrubbery, ~444.00, or a total or ~2,OOO.OO. Commissioner
Smith moved that the contract bctvleen Otis W. O'Neill and ~.:arsaret O'Neill, his wife,
and the City of Clearwat~r with ref~rence to purchase of Drew Street right of way
fronting on this property in the amount of ~2,OOO.OO be aT proved and the proper
officials be authorized to execute same. r.lotion was seconded by Commissioner Fiel.ds
and carried unanimously.
Resolution 1161-1.7 was read appointin~ ~-1ayor ~leatherly and Robert Freeze
as an Advisory Board to investigate the records of the Civil Service Department
and appointing Mary Crown and Kenneth Williamson as observers Co this Board.
Cormnissioner Fields moved the approval of Resolution #61-47, and that the proper
officials be authorized to execute it. Notion was seconded by Commissioner
Walters and carried unanimously. The Mayor announced the next investigation
session would be Monday evening at 7:30 P.M., and would be open to the public.
lvlr. Stephen Hughes of the Pinellas County Legal Depart.ment explained the
County had acquired tit-Ie to all property running from Oak Avenue to Fort Harrison
Avenue on i'iiarkley St.reet, and on Palm Avenue from Hnven to 150 .feet south of
Markley, but has ~o acquire another 50 feet on Palm. He said that the County
Commission will meet tomorrow and will authorize payment for that parcel. The
Attorney suggested action by Lhe City Commission on vacating Palm and i~arkley
at Lhe special meeting on 'l'hursday would be appreciated.
Mr. F. \'1. Shelton of Gulf 'N Bay l,Iarine cor.cerning improvements to the
Seminole Street boat launching area suggested a way in which four additional ramps
could be added inst:.ead of L\'JO. Commissioner Insco sugf;ested the City Manager be
instructed to put the best plan together for the City, and take su~gestions from
different people, if it could be done for the same amount of money. By consent,
the Commission agreed to this if it could be done in a reasonable length of time
before the Boat-A-Cade.
~r. Wally Daskovich of the Park Inn stated due to Lhe recent fire the cocktail
lounge, \:.he bar, t-he entire buildin,g had been cordemned ,;",ith the exception of the
packag0 store. He said it would cost from ~30,OOO.OO to ~50,OOO.OO to rebuild,
and estimated it would cost about ~1500.00 to tear the buildin~ down after the
expiration of the lease. He st:.ated he did not have a final report from the adjustors.
By consent, the l-,lana,~er was instructed Lo :~et the En~ineering Der artment to make a
survey as soon as possible.

group and urge t.he Chairman after t.he investigation is completed, to arrange a joi.nt
session or the Civil Service Board and the City CommissiJn co ~o over the r8sults
and start to correct the findings brought out in the investigation.
