CITY COMMISSION MEETING
October 18, 1960

The City Commission of the City of Clearwater met in special session at the
City Hall, Tuesday, October 18, 1960, at 4:00 P.M. with the following members
present:
Alex D. Finch
Cleveland Insco, Jr.
James H. Watkins
Amos G. Smith
Robert L. Weatherly

Representing Police Chief
The Mayor called the meeting to order. The Attorney presented for its second
reading Ordinance 879 authorizing the construction of a bridge across Li~tle Pass
and authorizing the issuance of 11,500,000.00 Bridge Revenue Bonds to finance the
cost. Commissioner Watkins moved Ordinance 879 be read on its second reading by
title only with the unanimous consent of the Commission. Motion was seconded by
Commissioner Weatherly and carried unanimously. The ordinance was read by title
only. Commissioner Watkins moved Ordinance 879 be passed on its second reading
by title only. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Insco and carried unanimously.
Commissioner Insco moved Ordinance 879 be read on its third and final reading
by the unanimous consent of the Commission. Motion was seconded by Commissioner
Watkins and carried unanimously. The ordinance was read in full. Commissioner
Insco moved to pass Ordinance S79 on its third and final reading and adopted and
the proper officials be authorized to execute it. Motion was seconded by Commissioner
Weatherly and carried unanimously.
The Attorney presented for its second reading Ordinance 877 declaring the Ci~y's
intention to annex property which is part of the right of way of State Road No. 55
(u.S. Highway No. 19) from Belleair Road to Union Street. Commissioner Watkins moved
Ordinance 877 be read on its second reading by title only by unanimous consent of the
Commission. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Insco and carried unanimously. The
ordinance was read by title only. Commissioner Watkins moved Ordinance 877 be passed
on its second reading by title only. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Insco and
carried unanimously.
Commissioner Watkins moved that Ordinance 877 be read and considered on its
third and final reading today by the unanimous consent of the Commission. Motion
was seconded by Commissioner Insco and carried unanimously. The ordinance was read in
full. Commossioner Watkins moved Ordinance 877 be passed on its third and final read-
ing and adopted and the proper officials be authorized to execute it. Motion was
seconded by Commissioner Weatherly and carried unanimously.
The Attorney reported that Commissioner Watkins had asked that the Commission
consider an ordinance relating to the sale of gift coupon books or gif~ certificates.
He read a copy of a similar ordinance being used in St. Petersburg.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 5:35 P.M.
