weave type wooden fence on the street and a chain link fence
on the South side of his property. There were no objections.
Upon consideration of the appeal of Bradley S. Robison from
the decision of the building official concerning the request
for a variance to erect a 5 ft. fence within west setback line
(Saturn Ave.) on Lot 7, Skycrest Greens, which property is
located at 1508-1510 At;ies Lane and is zoned RM-l2 (duplex-
apt), it appearing after this duly constituted public hearing,
that there are practical difficulties or unnecessary hardships
in the way of carrying out the strict letter of the provisions
of the zoning ordinance as it affects such property and that
the same can be varied in harmony with the general purposes
and intent of the zoning ordinance, Mr. House moved that such
appeal be granted in accordance with the application submitted
therewith, with the provision that tile right to obtain a build-
ing permit in accordance with such variance shall cease after
six (6) months from this date. The motion was seconded by
Mr. Youngstrom and carried unanimously.
Item *3 - Request of Otto Glass, et al, for two setbacks.
The Building Director reported that the property was 50 feet
wide on Betty Lane and 130 ft. M.O.L. on Woodlawn with the
law requiring 10 ft. rear and 25 ft. front setbacks. Mr. Glass
was present and stated he proposes to face his house on Woodlawn
but would have to build a house only~15ft. wide with the requi~ed
setbacks of 10 ft. on the rear and 25 ft. on the front. The
Building Director explained the property was originally in the
city, was de annexed and then reannexed recently but the proper-
ties across Betty Lane are all in the county. He also stated
the original zoning in the area was only 10 ft. setback on side
streets. The Clerk read a petition in opposition signed with
32 names on it and a letter also objecting to it. In answer
to a question from the Board it was pointed out that 7 of the
n~es on the petition had not been notified as they possibly
were beyond the 200 ft. limit and that the letter was from a
party who was in the middle of the block on Poinsettia Avenue,
one block north of the subject property and in the county.
There were no objectors present at the meeting.
Upon consideration of the appeal of Otto Glass, et al from the
decision of the building official concerning the request for a
variance to allow a 17 ft. setback from Woodlawn Terrace and a
7 ft. setback from north property line to erect a residence on
Lot 7, Block E, Shadowlawn Sub., which property is located on
northwest corner of N. Betty Lane and Woodlawn Terrace and is
zoned RS-5Q (single family), it appearing after this duly con-
stituted public hearing, that there are practical difficulties
or unnecessary hardships in the way of carrying out the strict
letter of the provisions of the zoning ordinance as it affects
such property and that the same can be varied in harmony with
the general purposes and intent of the zoning'ordinance, Mr.
Homer moved that such appeal be granted in accordance with the
a~p1ication submitted therewith, with the provision that the
r1ght to obtain a building permit in accordance with such

variance shall cease after six (6) months from this date.
The motion was seconded by Mr. Nichols and carried unanimously.
Item *~ - Request of Sentinel Square Investment Fund, Ltd. to
allow muscle toning and health institute within the building.
The Building Director said that the board may grant such useage
although it is not specified as a special exception in the code.
Mr. Wolle stated that two other exceptions had been granted, a
beauty salon and a school of modeling and dance. Mr. Austin
McGreal, Building Manager, read an outline of the objectives of
Nautilus of Clearwater which provides for scientific muscle
toning for the amateur, the professional athlete, etc. Among
those that would utilize the facilities are Tampa Bay Bucaneers,
Tampa Bay Rowdies, the Phillies and they are initiating a pro-
gram with the athletic departments of the high schools in the
area. He pointed out that the space they would occupy was
formerly used by the school of modeling and dance. therefore,
this would not be an additional special exce~tion. Mr. Gary
Salapa spoke as one of the owners of the bus1ness and stated
there would be a professional physiotherapist involved.
Upon consideration of the appeal of Sentinel Square Investment
Fund, Ltd. from the decision of the building official concern-
ing a special exception to allow muscle toning and health
institute within building on following described property:
Begin 330 ft. North and 58 ft. West of Southeast corner of
Southeast Quarter (SE~) of Southwest Quarter (SW~) of Northeast
Quarter (NE~), Section 14-29-15, thence run West 395.63 ft.,
North 30B.52 ft., East 396.14 ft., South 309.5~ ft. to p.a.B.,
which property is located on southwest corner of Duncan Ave.
and Rainbow Drive and is zoned PS (professional services), it
appearing after this duly constituted public hearing, that the
proposed use is consistent with the general zoning plan and with
the public interest, Mr. Homer moved that said appeal be ~ranted
in accordance with the application submitted therewith, w~th the
provision that the right to obtain a building permit in 'accord-
ance with said special exception shall cease after six (6)
months from this date. Hotion was seconded by Mr. House and
carried unanimously.
Item NS - Request of Richard Wiggins for special exception to
replace dwelling.
The Building Director stated that there were two single family
detached homes on the property, that the front building was
substandard and will be demolished in order to build a new
building there. In reply to a question, Mr. Blanton suggested
that Mr. E. J. Robinson, from the Housing Authority, might be
able. to give more information. Mr. :.obinsonsstated that both
houses were substandard and hoped that the rear house could be
