City Attorney The meeting was called to order at 8:00 P.M. by Vice Chairman E. C. Marquardt, who announced the first request of Martin E. Fjeld. Mr. Fjeld gave more detail and explained further the .reason for a request of a variance in side setbadc. rwir. E. Walt er Pest er spoke in favor of the request. The Clark rea~ notes, from ~Ir. Pester and from Helen and Delia C. Haase favoring the request. Mr. Rene E. Edison, President of the Edgewater Drive Assoc iation read a letter of objection from the Association. The CJark also read a letter of objection from Frederick M. Skinner. Upon consideration of the appeal of 1>1artin E. Fjeld from the decision of the Building Inspector concerning the three foot setbacR from East side lot line to add screened porCh to existing residence on Lot 19, Block A, LaJolla Subdivision (property is zoned R-1E) it appearing after this duly constituted public bearing that there are not such practical difficulties or unnecessary hardships in the way of carrying out the strict letter of the provisions of' the zoning ordinance as would justif'y a variance of such provision and that the same cannot be made within the intent of the zoning ordinance, Mr. Shepard moved that such appeal be denied. Motion was secomed by Mr. Hougen. Marquardt, Shepard, Hougen and Stoutau:fr e voted "Aye". 'Levison absent. Motion carried. The second request to be presed; ad was that of Mr. Mack Hart, represent ed by Lloyd M. Phillips, Mr. Phillips read a letter ot approval from Harold H. Young, Presid ent or LindIu Gardens . Apartments, and stated that the building would be built for Dr. McManus who plans to move here from Newburgh, New York.
