proposes no heavy mechanical work and he believes the
use liill be relatively compatible. They do propose to
screen and buffer the area.
George Moseley displayed an artist's rendition of
the improvements proposed' stating there would be a few
minor changes. Several of the planters will be larger
than shown and shade trees will be used rather than
palms. The bays will be made into a showroom since the
operation will be almost exclusively sales. Tools and
equipment will be stored inside the building. The
current proposal is to 9perate from 9 a.~. until '8 p.m.
six days a week, with a possible closing time of 9 p.m.
at a later date. The names of 4 area businesses who
support the application were read into the record.
James Baxter reported part of the fence would be
wood, stained to blend with the building, and part would
be chain link. The existing shrubbery will be retained.
No one spoke in opposition.
Having held a duly constituted public hearing and
since, based on the material submitted by the applicant,
the proposed use is consistent with the zoning code,
Mr. Gans moved that said appeal be granted provided the
facilities, as planned, be consistent with those sub-
mitted with the application and that the use/building
permit be obtained within six (6) months of this date.
The motion was duly seconded.
Responding to a question, the City Attorney stated
a fence with the proper buffering would be sufficient in
an operation of this type.
Upon the vote being taken, the motion carried
unanimously. Request granted.
Item #2 - Jeffrey Girard for a variance. At the
applicant's request, this item was continued to
February 12, 1981, to permit a revision of the
application.
Item #3 - A & S Partnership (Island Walk Condo)
for a special exception. Continued to February
12, 1981, because Planning & Zoning Board con-
tinued the item to their meeting of February 3,
1981.
Item #4 - Henry Cruise for a varianc~ of off-
street parking requirements to permit an addition
to existing Beach Bar and Lounge on Lots 78 and 79,
Clearwater Beach Park.located at 454 Mandalay Ave
and zoned CG (general-business).
