The Chairman welcomed the several guests stating that he plana to invite other business people who have their main place of business in the downtown area. The Chairman reviewed the objectives of the DOWl'ltoWl1 Development 1 Board for the year 1974, and commented on the fif'teen or more items in the list. A copy of the list is attached to these minutes. Following the review of objectives, the Chairman named the Chairmen and members of the various standing co~nittees. Mayor Hougen commented on the items mentioned by the Chairman and stated the position of the City Administration with respect to each item. The comments by the Mayor were well :received by the Board members. He pointed out that the city alone cannot possibly,. initiate the many desirable projects and encouraged the board and its members to cooperate with the city and become involved at the planning and study stages. A report by Mr.. Frank6 Chairman of the Land Use and Development Committee, which met recently and again will meet on February 27, indicated, that the group will be an active committee6 wbicn will take fQ.ll advantage of the suggestion by l-1ayor Hougen and become deeply involved. Mr. Carter, Chairman of the Parking and Traffic Committee, reported on tbe first meeting of this group, pointed out the obvious serious need for action n~ to provide the first multi-level parking facility in the downtown area. He pressed for consideration of the formation of an off-street parking authority by the city. ~he discussion which followed indicated a cooperative feeling on the part of the city about this project.r which should tie in with a CaD master plan now being worked on by the City Planning Department. Mr. Hammock next reported on the financial situation as of this date. A copy of his report is attached to these minutes.
