subject site is now developed with an automotive repair shop and
plans are proposed to demolish the existing building and utilize
the property as a newspaper distribution center for the St.
Petersburg Times. He reviewed the background and history of
subject property, stating that approximately one (1) acre would
be developed on the corner of S. Greenwood Avenue and Woodlawn
Street for said distribution center.

Mr. Greer expressed the opinion that the proposed use would be
compatible with the uses of surrounding properties and submitted
examples of pictures depicting various distribution centers,
letters in support of proposed request. and a rendering of
proposed distribution center. He felt that such center would
renovate subject property on the corner. that there would be suf-
ficient buffering. and that proposed center would have little
traffic impact on the area.
Edward Smith of the St. Petersburg Times also appeared in support
of above request.

the property in 1978. Planning staff recommended denial inasmuch
as land use objective had not changed in the target area over the
past five years.
Ms. Lois Cormier, 625 McLennan Street. appeared in opposition to
above request, stating that subject neighborhood was the re-
cipient of community development monies for improvement of public
works projects and upgrading of homes in said area.
Motion was made by Mr. Bickerstaffe. seconded by Mrs. Rogers. to
recommend denial of above request. Motion carried 4-3, with

appeared in opposition to above request but in agreement with
staff's recommendations.

Mr. Bickerstaffe commented that he was in objection to altering
the previous recommendation made by the Planning and Zoning
Board and several Board members expressed the opinion that
owners of sUbject property did not desire ML zoning.
