Public hearing was held for the purpose of considering items to be included in an ordinance amending the Land Use Plan and Zoning Atlas and Zoning Ordinance text change. Tapes of public hearings are on file in the Planning Department. On motion by Mr. Mazur, seconded by Mr. Canan, minutes of April 20, 1982 were approved as written. Planning and Zoning Board considered the following: Land Use Plan: 1. H & B 22 (new 123.02), Sec. 3-29-15 (Sunset Point Developers, lnc./City) Request - From: Recreation/Open Space (N%) and Commercial/Tourist Facilities (S%) Low Density Residential To: Above property is located on the west side of Edgewater Drive across from the inter- section of Sunnydale Drive. Subject site is vacant and consists of .27 acres MOL. Hr. Healey reviewed the background and history of subject property, noting that the current classification of Recreation/Open Space on the Land Use Plan is recognized by staff to be the result of a scrivener's error and should be corrected in order that the privately owned property can be developed. Further, he stated the City Commission hed directed the City Attorney to study subject property in order to ascertain possible rights and interest. of the City of Clearwater in same. Hr. Healey commented that a site plan is under review for the property south of subject property. Discussion ensued concerning possible purchase of property by the City. No citizen appeared in support of ahove request. Ms. Marien Crane, to above request, desire to see the President of Edgewater Drive Association, appeared in opposition stating objection to any building north of the present hotel and entire parcel that is in contention designated "parkland.1I . The Resource Development Committee has recommended approval of the proposed residential development to the north, zoned RM-12. A road connecting the two properties was discussed.
