(Workplace) for a variance to eliminate a condition imposed by the DCAB to allow a sign identifying IIWorkplace" on two pole signs, at 1856 US 19N, Sec 6-29-16, M&8 41.01, 41.02, 41.04, 41.05, 41.06 AND Blackburn's Sub, part of Lots 1 and 12, zoned CC (Commercial Center) Hearing Officer accepted recording and minutes of DCAB meeting. Exhibits: Appl. 61 2 photos of signs #2 - Plans for signs 0, .,' " Owen Tegan, sign contractor, representing Workplace, stated on March 24, 1988 a variance for a sign on the building was granted. On November 18, 1988, additional variances for a pole sign were granted with the stipulation that Workplace not be placed on this sign because they had been granted a previous variance. Mr. Tegan stated the pole sign was to list anchor tenants. Circuit City was given a variance and their name appears on the pylon sign. The setback of the shopping center is a hardship. Trees create limited visibility. Large lettering on the building signs is necessary for adequate identification. The IIW" in Workplace is approximately 6 ft. high. Mr. Hullinger, Workplace representative, stated theirs is a new office products company with approximately 1000 customers a day. They are open seven days a week and opened this store in May 1988. He pointed out that the Publix sign is larger than Code allows and their name appears on the pylon sign. Burger King and Dunkin Doughnuts are at the front of the parking lot and there is no visibility from Sunset Point Road. Mr. Hullinger said he did not have the luxury of presenting a package because they were unaware of changes on the pole sign. John Richter stated a variance was granted March 1988 for a larger wall sign. A variance was granted in November 1988 for a pole sign and was conditioned upon Workplace not being on the pole sign. The Publix and Eckerd signs were grandfathered in and will be brought into conformance in 1992.
