Section 6-10
operate any type
of the shoreline
Clearwater.
of the Code states that no person shall
of boat, vessel or barge within 300 feet
of any public beach owned by the City of
Numerous complaints have been received by other munici-
palities on this type of operation. The recommendation is
to deny the request because of a potential accident hazard
on an already overcrowded beach.
The City Attorney reported the Code docs not provide for
variances to the Code, and suggested the Commission establish
procedures.
St. Petersburg Bank & Trust Company, Clearwater Branch Bank
Community Impact Statement and Preliminary Site Plan.
The property is located at the intersection of Gulf-
to-Bay Boulevard and Court Street. The site is currently vacant
and the proposal is to build a branch bank.
A special exception was approved by the Board of Adjust-
ment and Appeal on Zoning for a noncommercial off-street
parking lot on Lot 23, Block J, Boulevard Heights Subdivision,
which portion of the site is zoned RM-12 (duplex/apartment)
and exits onto San Juan Street. The balance of the property
is zoned CG; (general business) and PS (professional services).
Menna Motel (2nd Motel Unit) - CIS and Site Plan
The property is located along State Road 60 west of
Bayview Boulevard. The site is currently vacant and the pro-
posal is to build a 48-unit motel facility. This will be the
second phase. The first phase is under construction.
The developer was required to construct his own water
treatment plant when the first phase was approved and it will
service both areas.
Request for Zoning Ordinance Text Change - Section 30.12
The request will enact a new Subsection (e) to provide
criteria for revoking any temporary or portable building
permit authorized by Section 30.12 and Section 504.1 of
Section 7-2 of the Code of Ordinances. The change would
allow the City Manager or his representative to revoke a
permit when the code is violated.
This text change to the Zoning Code will give the City
the authority to control nuisance situations such as now
exists on Clearwater Beach by the sales people for Leisure
Life. Four units in one building of this project have been
constructed and the problem arises as each unit could easily
be convert~d into two self-contained units. The site plan
is to be brought back for reconsideration by the Commission.
Bid - Skid Loader
The City Nanager reported this piece of equipment is
used for clearing sand from beach sidewalks, dead-end streets,
and other areas where the quarters are very close, and
unaccessible with large equipment. He also reported all of
the, sand had been replaced on the beach in four days, with
the crews working during the night and in the curly morning
hours. It usually takes approximately 3 weeks to complete
such a task.
