Tlie recommendation is to approve an agree�aent with Barnett
Bank of Clearwater for a pex�od o� three years, for a minimum
compensaCing balance of $385,000. In the past the City has
maintained as many as i9 separate hank accouaxs wr�.�h 3 majar
downtown banks. To maximize Che City's �aves�ment capab�.3lty,
theae accouats have beea grnuped into a conso].idated cash
acconnt. Fourteen banka were queried, 4 reaponded With pr�s-
pasale, of which Barnet� Iiank's was the raoet competiCive.
This syatem Wi11 pxov3de better investment apportunity by
faciZitating the control of idle cash to the minimum requ�r�d
by the bank and wi11 provide an oppar�unity to award the com-
mercial baak bueinese nf the C�.ty hased on competitive
proposals.
