WHEREAS I the City of Clearwater has been offered the "morgue ,II or a
collection of newspaper clippings and photographs of the former Clearwater Sun
newspaper, and the filing cabinets in which they are housed, for the use and
benefit of the Clearwater publ ic Library System, as a gift by Cleari'-later
Newspapers, Inc., and its parent corporation, The Hearst Corporation; and
WHEREAS, a Deed of Gift from Clearwater Newspapers, Inc., of the Clearwater
. Sun newspaper morgue has been presented to the City, and the City has been
requested to execute a letter of acceptance of the morgue, including a
certification of the intended use of the morgue by the City, and copies of the
form of the deed and letter are attached to this resolution as Exhibits 1 and 2,
respectively; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Clearwater desires to accept
the proposed gift from Clearwater Newspapers, Inc.; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
CLEARWATER, FLORIDA:
RESOLUTION NO. 91=1
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING THE GIFT OF THE
CLEARWATER SUN NEWSPAPER MORGUE FROM CLEARWATER
NEWSPAPERS, INC., FOR THE BENEFIT AND USE OF THE
CLEARWATER PUBLIC LIBRARY SYSTEM; AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR
AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE A LETTER OF ACCEPTANCE OF THE.
GIFT; PROVIDING AN EFfECTIVE DATE.
Section 1. The gift of the Clearwater Sun newspaper morgue from Clearwater
Newspapers, Inc. is hereby accepted for the benefit and use of the Clearwater
Public Library System, and the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to execute,
on behalf of the City, the letter of acceptance of the gift.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.

CLEARWATER NEWSPAPERS, INC., by way of gift,
hereby does remise, release, assign, transfer and quitclaim
to the City of Clearwater, Florida, for the benefit and use
of the CLEARWATER PUBLIC LIBRARY SYSTEM, all of the right,
title and interest of Clearwater Newspapers, Inc. in and to
that certain collection of newspaper clippings. and
photographs more particularly described in Exhibit A
attached hereto, save and except only that this Deed of Gift
does not convey, transfer or assign any interest in or to
any trademarks, trade names, service marks, symbols,
copyrights, literary property or other intangible personal
property in respect of the newspaper clippings and photo-
graphs described in said Exhibit.
TO HAVE AND TO. HOLD the same unto said city of
Clearwater forever.
