A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, ESTABLISHING THE NORTH GREENWOOD
COMMERCIAL DISTRICT DESIGN STANDARDS: PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
CLEARWATER, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The North Greenwood Commercial District Design Standards are
established as follows:
(a) Purpose. It is the purpose of these design standards to develop an
attractive image in a cost~effective manner, and to promote economic vitality,
neighborhood identity, cohesiveness and compatibility, and community pride in
the North Greenwood Commercial District.
(b) Standards. Enumerated hereunder are building and site deign elements
and materials which are recommended for properties within the North Greenwood
Convnercial District, together with point values which can be accrued for
development proposals which incorporate said elements. Points can be accrued
for architecture, signage and landscaping and amenities.
1. Architecture. Building plans shall be fashioned to create a
locally developed architectural style stemming from semi~tropical architecture.
Building facades shall create visual interest through variation in the use of
architectural elements and colors. Individuality is encouraged.

2. Signage. A neighborhood signage theme conducive to promoting
an attractive pedestrian oriented promenade shall be applied consistently
throughout the CNG District. Elements of the signage theme include materials,
lighting, placement and color.

c. Wall mounted at eye level, suspended from
a soffit or balcony, or freestanding in
accordance with section 134.010(4)c
d. Colors that complement the architecturej i.e.,
bright trim borders against a white, off-white
or pastel-tint background
3. Landscaping and amenities. Landscaping and other amenities
are encouraged to enhance the streetscape and building facade, and to soften
the hard-surface environment.
