A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE STATE OF FLORIDA
TO WAIVE '!'HE REVERTER CONTAINED IN CHAP'fER
11050, SPECIAL ACTS OF FLORIDl\, 1925, ON 'rHAT
PROPERTi' WHICH WOULD BE OCCUPIED BY TilE CLEARWATER
MARINE SCIENCE CENTER, SUBJECT TO APPROVAL BY
THE VOTERS OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER AT A
PROPERLY HELD REFERENDUM ELECTION.
WHEREAS, the Clearwater Marine Science Center has proposed an
expansion project which would include, among other things, the
purchase of the property they now occupy from the City and additional
"
parcels; and
WHEREAS, such project must first be approved by the voters at
a referendum; and
WHEREAS, since this property is part of the real property con-
tained in Chapter 11050, Special Acts of Florida, 1925,which includes
a reverter clause which provides that title would revert to the
State if the property ever ceased to be used for public purposes,
this reverter must be waived for this portion of real property;
NOW, T:HliREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMIS~IoN OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION DULY AND REGULARLY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the City Commission of the City of Clearwater hereby
formally requests the State of Florida to waive the reverter clause
contained in Chapter 11050, Special Acts of Florida, 1925, ~s to
that property specifically identified at the public hearing of
May 2, 1985, for use by the Clearwater Marine Science Center with
the stipulation that this project must be approved by the voters
at a referendum election.

2. That copies of this Resolution be sent to the proper 'officials
of the State of Florida.
3. That this Resolution shall become effective immediately
upon its adoption.
