ORDINANCE NO. 6693-01 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, RELATING TO THE USE OF PRIVATELY OWNED VEHICLES FOR OFFICIAL CITY BUSINESS; AMENDING SECTION 2.328, CODE OF ORDINANCES, TO SET THE REIMBURSEMENT RATE FOR SAME IN ACCORDANCE WITH INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE STANDARDS; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Clearwater, Florida, has determined that it is in the best interests of the City to modify the reimbursement rate for privately owned vehicles used for official City business; now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA: Section 1. Section 2.328, Code of Ordinances, is amended as follows: Sec. 2.328. Use of privately owned vehicles. (1) The use of privately owned vehicles for official travel in lieu of publicly owned vehicles or common carriers may be authorized by the agency head if a publicly owned vehicle is not available. Whenever travel is by privately owned vehicle, the traveler shall be entitled to a mileage allowance at a fixed rate not to exceed the standard mileaae rate currentlv permitted by the Internal Revenue Service F.S. ~ 112.061 (7)(d). Except for the mileage allowance, tolls and parking fees, reimbursement for expenditures related to the operating, maintenance and ownership of the vehicle shall not be allowed when privately owned vehicles are used on public business. Section 2. This ordinance shall effect immediately after its adoption.
