RE: NPDES FL002l865
Dear Mr. Shoemaker:
We wish to thank your staff at the wastewater treatment plant for their cooperation
in conducting the Operation & Maintenance and Compliance Sampling Inspections on
March 22 & 23, 1978.
At the time of this sampling the plant was experiencing abnormal flows due to the
heavy unseasonal rainfalls being realized during the normally high tourist season.
The plant experienced flows in excess of the design capacity sausing an increase
in solids carryover and a slight increase in BOD carryover during the month of
March and April of this year. Since the sampling period reported in these inspec-
tions the flows have subsided to a normal level and the Suspended Solids and BOD
have declined to a more normal level.
Since this inspection the new floatation sludge thickener has been put into opera-
tion and the sludge handling problem will be decreased. Hopefully, the 201 Plan
will be completed soon and a resolution of the effluent discharge alternates will
be resolved.
Very truly
