Sullivan Board Reporter The Chair called the meeting to order at 9:02 a.m. at City Hall. To provide continuity for research, items are in agenda order although not necessarily discussed in that order. 2 - Approval of Minutes – July 10, 2008 Member Doran moved to approve the minutes of the regular Pension Advisory Committee meeting of July 10, 2008, as submitted in written summation to each board member. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously. 3 – Employees to be Heard – None. 4 – Action Items: a. Review and Action on Employee Requests for Regular Pensions: 1. Dennis Olmstead, Public Utilities 2. Thomas Chaplinsky, Development & Neighborhood Services 3. Phillip Jackson, Police Member Schmalzbauer moved to approve the requests for regular pensions for Dennis Olmstead, Thomas Chaplinsky, and Philip Jackson. The motion was duly seconded and carried unanimously. b. Approval of New Hires as Plan Members: Member Schmalzbauer moved to accept the following employees into membership in the Pension Plan: Pension Eligible Name, Job Class, & Dept./Div Hire Date Date Pension Advisory 2008-08-14 1 Kimberly Pierce, Police Comm. Hearing on George Agovino's Request for Disability Pension. Human Resources Director Joe Roseto reported this case had been continued to September 11, 2008, at the request of Mr. Agovino's attorney. The City plans to contest the request. 6 - Director's Report: Mr. Roseto reported at the August 18, 2008, Pension Trustees meeting, the Pension's attorney will present defined benefit/defined contribution plan information. The plan's actuary also will be present. No decisions will be made. The Pension attorney will report on proposed legislation that may increase the cost of plan actuary requirements. 7 - Committee Members to be Heard Committee members thanked retirees for their efforts and complimented their contributions. Member Jensen encouraged PAC members to attend upcoming public pension conferences. Finance Director Margie Simmons requested that PAC members planning to attend a conference notify her office in advance.
