Project hereunder, or to observe, assume or carry out any of the provisions of

4. The Public Body shall obtain traffic counts of all streets

within the Project limits ~rior to the start of construction a~d also annu-

ally for a two year period commencing on the completion date of the Project
as determined by the Oepartrr.ent. Traffic counts are to be obtained in a
manner approved by the Department. The Pub 1i c Body sha 11 obtain hard copies
of the accident reports for 9. period of 12 months prior to the start of con-
struction and 24 months following construction co~pletion. The accident -
record periods may be any consecutive 12 month period; ho~:ever, the before
a~d after periods must be identical. The Public Body shall report to the
Dep lrtment by July 15th of each year, the number of acci dents, the number of

injllries. and the number of fatalities occurring during the acc~ dent record
per'iod.

the administration of the financing program,. separate accounts to be main-

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A
MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND THE CITY
OF CLEARWATER REQUESTING PAETICIPATION IN
THE 1973 HIGHWAY SAFETY ACT, SPECIFICALLY
SECTION 230, SAFER ROADS DEMONSTRATION PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the Department of Transportation of Florida has offered
the City of Clearwater the opportunity to participate jointly with the Florida
Department of Transportation and the F. H. W. A. in The 1973 Highway Safety
Act Program, specifically Section 230, Safer Roads Demonstration Progran'1;
and

WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City of Clearwater to accept the
offer of the Department of Transportation of Florida and to enter into the
Safer Roads Demonstration Program of The 1973 Highway Safety Act;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CLEARWATER, FLORIDA,
IN SESSION REGULARLY AND DULY ASSEMBLED, AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the Mayor-Commissioner, City Manager, City Clerk and
.Acting City Attorney of the City of Qearwater be and they are hi~reby authorized
and directed to execute that Memorandum of Agreement betweer_ the Department
of Tr~~nsportation of. Florida and the City of Clearwater providir.g for a
Safer Roads Demonstration Program under Section 230 of The 1973 Highway
Safety Act, which Agreement is attached hereto and made a part hereof.
