Subject: Shoppes on Sand Key
Dear Mr. Everitt:
I’m writing to express my opposition to the possible rezoning of The Shoppes on Sand Key. I’ve been a owner in Harbor Light Towers for over 30 years and recognize the special nature
of Sand Key. With The Shoppes, it is possible to spend days on end without having to travel by car to buy basics, food, clothing, etc. A zoning change for The Shoppes would most likely
adversely affect the nature of Sand Key to the detriment of all the people who call it home or visit. The only significant beneficiaries would be the developers, who clearly have profit
as their only concern. And I’m not anti business. I’ve been a Professor in the Terry College of Business for 35 years, and appreciate the importance of business in our society, but
this proposed zoning changes would benefit only corporate profits while decreasing the quality of life for all of the people who know Sand Key to be so special.
