Box ~748 C1e~later, Fl 33518 Dear 1Ir~ Shoemaker; It is respectfUlly requested tliat the Clearwater High Schoo~ Band Boosters be again permitted to operate the automobile parl'-..i.ng concession during ~he l'hiladelphia Phillies ~978 sprine tI'A-t,,-i"g games. As you Janow, this is a fund raising event which the Band Boosters have operated ~or many years~. As in past years., a split o~ 60140 % of' the gross with the 6of; going to the band would be acceptable. It is further requested that the perking tee be raised ~rom $;25 to $~50 per car; A $~50 fee today is an accepted amount and is the nrl.n.ir::um charged throughout the Bay .!.rea for sports events~ It is not unusual to be charged ~l:.OO or C2.00 at sone events, even r.ithL~ oUr own county. ~e have charged $~50 at all Clea~ater F~gh School football g~~es for the last seven years and have to my l~o~ledGe never received a complaint~ I feel certain the same TI'ould apply at the fllillies g~es~ The added income, of' course, would be of Great benefit to the band and I'~ certa~ to the City of Clearmlter~ It ~ould be annreciated if vou uould contact the proper parties necessary for approval or our request. Hoping to hear from you at an early date, I remain, v ry truly your~, . ?1)~ Jack Uarscher, President CRS Band Boosters Tnc. Clearwater High School Band Boos rs, Incorporated 540 S. Moore, Parks & Recreation Directoi COPIES: SUBJECT: Clearwater High School Band Boosters - Jack Russell Stadium - Parking DATE: Oct 0 b er 20, 19 7 7 Before directing a memorandum to the City Commission for approving the request of the Clearwater High School Band Boosters for renewing the agreement, I would like to meet with you to discuss the matter. I am attaching a copy of the agreement, the first time we ever documented the type arrangement in the interest of the City. I would be in favor of r~newing this agreement at 25~ per vehicle charge. Also, on item 4, page 2, of the agreement, the Boosters were to provide prior to utilizing the lots, a detailed manner of collecting required data for accounting report~ This was not done. The Band Boosters request raising parking charges almost annually. The rewards they receiv~ at present are quite large for the efforts and hours e%pended. In stadiums where 50~ and above charges are made for parking, the major recipient is the City or stadium authority. If the charge for parking at local spring training games is to be raised to 50~, I suggest the City first obtain approval from the Phillies and secondly, that upon establishing the charge, the City request bids for operating parking. As I mentioned in a previous memo, the Philliesset aside 5 games during the spring where reduced admission is charged to senior citizens to provide opportunity to see the team at minimal cost. Raising the parking fee would somewhat offset the Phil1ies action. Please call me to discuss further. ~ l/v/h} E CM : j v
