7 - Committee Members to be Heard
Member discussion ensued regarding investment seminars, the market, alternative
investments, and the inability of the Plan to match returns earned by endowments due to State
restrictions. It was stated the Pension Plan's return was 7.22%. The community's respect for
the expertise of Finance Director Margie Simmons and Cash & Investments Manager Steve
Moskun was noted and they were complimented for their efforts.
Member Gibson expressed concern that massive run ups of overtime at the end of
careers escalate pension benefits. Mr. Roseto said changes to policy would require collective
bargaining.
Members wished all Happy Valentine's Day.
Member Jensen reviewed new legislation. Mr. Roseto said City policy now requires
employee notification regarding the purpose of any request for social security numbers.
